Merriewold’s new mare Pocket, is in Foal!

East coast meets West coast…Two prestigious Morgan sport horse programs contribute to make a Merriewold Morgan Foal!  We recently purchased Canequin Reach for the Stars, aka Pocket, who has been bred to Dragonfire Kirin for a 2014 foal.  We adore our first Kirin foal…who is now a 6 year old gelding,  Java.  He is out of our WC Mare, Caduceus Marika.  Like Java, this new foal should be athletic and willing, with lots of Morgan beauty.

Saving the BEST for last! My Favorite 2012 Contest Photos.

Every year the quality of photos entered in our Morgan horse contest gets better and better.  I love the photos that our Judge, Bob Langrish chose...but…IMHO there were some amazing images in the 2012 contest that were not picked.  So, here are my favorite photos from 2012.

The 2013 MWM International Morgan Horse Photo Contest is under way!

Merriewold Proudly announces our purchase of, Reach for the Stars!

With our broodmares retired,  and our young horses all in training, we have been looking for another mare (or two) to continue our sport horse breeding program.   We are thrilled to have found Canequin Reach for the Stars!

“Pocket” as she is fondly called by her owner, Liz Gesler has all the qualities we are looking in a Morgan mare:

She is the product of two successful and respected Morgan sport horse breeding programs, Canequin Morgans and Rainy Day Morgans.
She has been successfully campaingned by her owner Liz Gesler in several divisions including:  Dressage, Jumping, Driving, In hand, and Combined Driving Events.
Physically she in not only beautiful but also has up hill sport horse conformation and free elastic gaits.
Pocket is brave and forward thinking and willing with a great mind and even temperament.

More information to come on Pocket’s illustrious show career
with Liz Gesler!

I would like to thank Kathleen DeFazio of  Scandia Morgan Horse Farm and Jackie Smith of Rainyday Morgans for helping me find this wonderful mare.  But,  most of all I want to thank Liz Gesler for sharing her beloved mare with us!

I have just started Pocket’s on line photo album with the photos from the day we went to see her and some of the show photos Liz has shared with us.
