Archive for December, 2006All I want for Christmas is my new round pen, my new round pen, my new round pen! MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM MERRIEWOLD! May all your wishes come true in the new year! Diana and Jackie We are expecting six foals in 2007! That is the most we have ever had. And we are really excited about the crosses we have made and the quality of the foals. Below is a list of the upcoming foals and their approximate foaling dates. 1/28 Majesty My Fair Lady X Beethoven 3/12 MLF Emotion X Santa Fe Renegade 3/31 Willowist Promise To Keep X Gulfwind Sir William 4/14 Ringbrook Renaissence X MEMC Tequilla Cuervo 6/14 ABL Morning Star X UVM Springfield 7/15 Caduceus Marika (Coco) X Dragonfire Kirin This is our “J” year for naming the foals. We could use some help. Please send us any good ideas on foal names that start with a “J”. If we use your suggestion, we will give you credit on this site! Ubaldo Arreola has been with Merriewold for about one year and we really don’t know what we would do without him. He has become a wonderful groom and horse handler. He has a kind and calm way with the horses and he is always ready to help out with whatever chores need to be done to keep the ranch running! Thanks Ubaldo! The girls are also starting some round pen training. Basic voice commands such as, Halt, Walk, Trot are being learned. And we will be learning about each individual as well. Merriewold Galaxie and Flower of Georgia starting their ground training. Our new mare Caduceus Marika is having a foal via surrogate, Coco. This is an important foal for us so we wanted to make sure everything was still going well. And yes, we have a foal! The foal’s sire is the well known, Dragonfire Kirin, a Multi-World Champion in Hunter and Dressage divisions.
Merriewold Galaxie and Flower of Georgia our two year old fillies are starting their ground work and round pen training. Both girls are big and athletic for their age and the work will be really good for them. Photos to follow.

Congratulations to the Pho family on their purchase of ‘Ellie’!Posted by Diana in Horse NewsMerriewold Elegance has a wonderful new home. The Pho family of San Jose, CA has purchased her as their pleasure horse and Jasmine’s new mount. Merriewold Ima Honey Moon arrived in Arroyo Grande two weeks ago. She is now six months old and her coat color has changed dramatically. So much so that we wonder, what color is she? Jennifer Monroe owner of Honey’s cremello sire, MEMC Tequilla Cuervo says that Honey will probably keep changing color for quite some time. We will update her photos again in the spring when she sheds out her winter coat. For now here’s just a peek! Honey’s feature page and photo album. |
